An Orb by Delivery: World Launches at-Home Iris Scanning in Argentina
World, the proof of personhood and wallet platform, will allow users in Argentina to request a domiciliary iris scan for verification. This new feature is currently available only in the capital but will be extended nationwide.
World Starts Rolling out Domiciliary Iris Scans in Argentina
World is executing measures to ease access to its verification services in Argentina. According to local media, the biometric ID project has started rolling out its domiciliary scanning services, allowing Argentines to get their identification checked at their homes.
The new functionality is being implemented in partnership with Rappi, one of the largest delivery companies in Latam. The process encompasses the transport of an Orb, one of the devices designed to check the personhood of users, and the subsequent scan of the users’ biometric data.
Now, World also allows for a less invasive verification option, which includes the scanning of a government-issued ID, like a passport, from within the World app. Users can also opt in to both verifications.
Tools For Humanity Latam’s General Manager Martín Mazza told local media that this was a milestone for the company, which can now bring universal access to a safe and anonymous digital identity verification process.
He stated:
The alliance was revealed back in November. At the time, World was probed by Chilean authorities about extending these services to that country, something that was denied by Rappi.
Nonetheless, Rappi’s Global Operations Manager, Juan Jose Guerrero, stated that they aim to extend this feature to other latitudes.
He stressed:
For now, the services are only available in the capital, but Rappi expects to reach the whole country in the future.
