BitGo Now Supports Flare (FLR), Songbird (SGB): Details
BitGo now supports Flare, Songbird, boosts accessibility for institutions
According to the official statement by its team, BitGo, a leading cryptocurrency custody solutions provider, adds support for Flare (FLR), a layer-1 blockchain for data, and Songbird (SGB), its canary network. Both FLR and SGB are already available through BitGo’s qualified custody and self-custody hot and cold wallets.
Largely, the announcement affects corporate clients interested in exposure to promising altcoins of viable L1 blockchains. BitGo is giving institutions flexible, secure options for asset management.
Flare is purpose-built to enable decentralized systems to interact with real-world data securely and seamlessly. As the only EVM-compatible layer 1 with enshrined data protocols, Flare supports powerful applications across DeFi, AI, identity and institutional finance.
Songbird operates as a live testing environment for new features before they are deployed to Flare mainnet. Like Flare, it is EVM-compatible and supports the same protocols above, with its own utility token (SGB) used for governance and transaction fees.
Songbird provides real economic incentives for testing, making it a critical proving ground for application developers and the broader Flare ecosystem.
Native FLR staking support coming
Hugo Philion, CEO and cofounder of Flare, is excited by the integration and welcomes all institutions to experiment with BitGo's offering for SGB and FLR:
In the coming months, the teams are expected to deepen the collaboration and unlock new opportunities for BitGo clients.
Namely, BitGo will add support for Flare’s token standard and delegate support for Wrapped Flare (WFLR) and seamless support for Flare’s P-Chain. Also, native staking support for FLR is expected to be released by the end of 2025.
As interest in decentralized AI, real-world data feeds, and multi-chain DeFi grows, BitGo remains committed to expanding access to high-potential networks like Flare and Songbird with institutional-grade infrastructure.
