Internet Computer Founder Shares Outlook on the Web3 Multi-Chain Era

Recently, DFINITY founder Dominic Williams shared his views on multi-chain, Web3, and the latest developments of the Internet Computer during a Twitter Space. As a serial entrepreneur and early contributor to Ethereum, Dominic founded DFINITY with the aim of creating a leading project in decentralized cloud computing.

Dominic believes that the vision of the "World Computer" is to run most of the business logic, data, and user experiences on the blockchain. However, current blockchains still have limitations in storage and computing power. The Internet Computer reimagines and constructs the blockchain, not only capable of storing large amounts of data and performing complex computations, but also seamlessly integrating other chains through Chainkey technology.

In a multi-chain landscape, Dominic expects the crypto industry to trend towards consolidation, with more application chains and enterprise private chains emerging. Internet Computer is working hard to achieve code-level and smart contract-level decentralized integration with mainstream public chains like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Dominic emphasized that a true Web3 should allow users to have direct ownership of DApps. He introduced the Internet Computer's Service Nervous System (SNS)), which enables decentralized governance of DApps. Users, as holders of governance tokens, can submit and vote on software update proposals.

In terms of user experience, Internet Computer adopts a walletless architecture and a reverse Gas model, allowing users to interact with DApps without having to pay Gas fees. Dominic showcased Oisy Wallet, an Ethereum wallet based on Internet Computer, which can significantly simplify the user operation process.

Dominic believes that to attract billions of users, Web3 needs to go beyond simple applications like NFTs and provide a truly decentralized experience. He used Hot or Not as an example to demonstrate the tokenization potential in fields such as social media and gaming. In the future, Web3 is expected to achieve complete on-chain applications and community ownership, and promote innovation through decentralized crowdfunding and other means.

Dominic stated that the vision of the Internet Computer is to enable people to contribute more easily to the internet and create a new generation of services, promoting the democratization of the technological ecosystem, ultimately leading to more innovation and creativity.
