[The U.S. sanctions North Korean IT personnel for assisting in cyber espionage and cryptocurrency theft] The U.S. Treasury Department has added North Korean hacker group member Song Kum Hyok to the "Specially Designated Nationals" sanctions list, accusing him of helping North Korean IT personnel work at overseas companies, engaging in cyber espionage activities, and stealing crypto assets. Officials stated that these IT personnel obtain positions in technology and the virtual money industry by falsifying identification and remit their earnings and stolen funds back to North Korea. Although no new specific Wallet addresses were added this time, the Treasury Department reiterated that it has sanctioned the Lazarus Group.
