[Bitcoin becomes NFT contender, $463 million in sales in 4 months]
In just four months starting on February 7, 2023, sales of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Bitcoin blockchain have soared to $463.68 million. That growth has driven the network’s second-highest monthly NFT sales since then. However, despite its impressive rise over the past four months, Bitcoin’s overall NFT sales figures still lag behind the other seven blockchain networks.
[Bitcoin blockchain NFT sales are gaining momentum, ranking eighth among the leading networks]
Ethereum has long been the dominant force in NFT sales and will continue to hold that title. Still, Bitcoin has made impressive strides across nearly two dozen blockchain networks when it comes to NFT transactions.
According to data recorded by cryptoslam.io, Bitcoin currently ranks eighth out of 22 blockchain networks with recorded NFT sales. It’s worth noting that BTC’s NFT sales data starts on February 7, exactly 148 days ago, while many other blockchains have recorded NFT sales for much longer.
Overtaking Bitcoin in terms of total sales are several notable chains, namely Ethereum, Ronin, Solana, Flow, Polygon, Cardano, and Wax. Sales generated from the Wax blockchain alone exceeded Bitcoin’s overall sales by $25.59 million.
About 119 days ago, on March 8, Bitcoin sales were strong. While Bitcoin-based NFTs are not currently in the top 10 most expensive NFT sales, BTC-based NFTs are firmly in 11th place, having sold for $4.7 million three months ago.

Additionally, BTC-based Space Pepe #8,253 ranks 12th, having achieved a staggering $4.56 million in sales just two months ago. Bitcoin NFTs also occupy the 13th and 14th spots in terms of the highest NFT collectible sales ever.
BTC Artifacts TNT #20,817 was priced at $4.48 million three months ago, while unclassified Ordinal was priced at $4.45 million two months ago. Additionally, another Unsorted Ordinal holds the 20th most valuable NFT of all time, having sold for $3.83 million three months ago.
It’s worth noting that while other digital collectibles from alternative blockchains among the top 20 highest sales were sold a year or two ago, multi-million dollar BTC NFT sales happened more recently. In terms of collectibles, BTC finds itself in a lower position, with uncategorized ordinal collectables ranking 27th in the all-time stats.
Ronin took the lead to secure first place, while Flow took a respectable fifth. The remaining 24 collections, ranked below 27, are all Ethereum-based NFT collections. While Bitcoin blockchain sales have been in the spotlight in recent years, with a total of $463.68 million in historical sales, Bitcoin’s historical sales are compared to Ethereum’s $43.68 billion, Ronin’s $4.2 billion, and Solana’s $4 billion. The numbers seem dwarfed by comparison. In terms of NFT sales.
