NVIDIA announces next-generation superchip Vera Rubin
On March 19, Jinshi Data reported that NVIDIA (NVDA.O) CEO Jensen Huang showcased its next-generation Vera Rubin AI super chip and Blackwell Ultra at the GTC conference. He stated that the transition to the Blackwell Ultra chip will occur in the second half of this year, and Vera Rubin will take over from the Blackwell Ultra chip when it starts dumping in the second half of 2026. Similar to Grace Blackwell, Vera Rubin integrates CPU and GPU. In Grace Blackwell, Grace is the CPU and Blackwell is the GPU; while in Vera Rubin, Vera is the CPU and Rubin is the GPU. NVIDIA stated that Vera CPU has 4.2 times the memory of Grace and 2.4 times the memory bandwidth of Grace. Combined with Vera's 88 CPU cores, NVIDIA claims that the overall performance of this chip will be twice that of the previous generation products. Rubin GPU will be equipped with 288GB of HBM4. Furthermore, NVIDIA also announced the next generation chip after Vera Rubin, named Vera Rubin Ultra. Vera Rubin Ultra, set to be launched in the second half of 2027, will combine Vera CPU and Rubin Ultra chip together. Each Rubin processor consists of two GPUs on a single chip, while Rubin Ultra consists of four GPUs.
