Golden Finance reported that after winning a lawsuit with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on the Kalshi prediction market platform, the US CFTC filed an emergency motion to try to prevent Kalshi from launching election contracts within two weeks and the agency is handling its appeal. The CFTC believes that Kalshi may start trading regulated election contracts as early as Tuesday after self-certifying the contracts on Monday and waiting for one business day as required. The CFTC is concerned that if the contracts start trading, the CFTC's ability to halt trading or otherwise unwind the contracts is very limited.
