On August 12, Trump once again posted on Truth Social urging for a drop in interest rates: "Jerome, it's too late, Powell must drop the interest rate immediately; he is always 'too late' causing losses that are hard to measure. Fortunately, the economic situation is booming, and we have completely freed ourselves from Powell and the complacent Fed. However, I am considering allowing a major lawsuit against Powell because he has done a terrible job managing the construction of the Fed building, it is extremely incompetent. This project should have only required $50 million in repairs, but it cost $3 billion. It's really bad!"
