Bitcoin network transaction count hits an 8-month low, 31 core developers voice opposition to transaction filtering.

Gate News bot message, the average transaction volume on the Bitcoin network over the past 7 days has dropped to 317,000 transactions, setting a new low since October 2023. Data shows that only 256,000 transactions were recorded on-chain on June 1. Against this backdrop, some miners have started to accept transactions below the default forwarding standard of 1 sat/vB.

In response to the current situation, 31 Bitcoin Core developers jointly issued an open letter on June 6, clearly opposing the filtering of low-fee or non-standard transactions by nodes. In the letter, they pointed out that such practices violate the anti-censorship principles of Bitcoin, while also emphasizing that private channels like Slipstream would have a negative impact on decentralization.
