On February 17th, Jinshi Data reported that the German far-right party, Alternative for Germany, is about to hold a major election on Sunday, during which their candidate, Weidel, became the target of criticism from other candidates in a debate involving candidates from various parties. The topics of discussion included the Ukraine crisis and the connection between her party and Nazi ideology. Weidel claimed to have the support of American Vice President Vance and welcomed Vance's urging of mainstream European politicians to cooperate with far-right and anti-establishment parties. Vance's latest statement has angered traditional German political parties, all of which have refused to form a coalition government with the Alternative for Germany. It is expected that Weidel's party will win a record 20% of the votes on February 23rd, while Merkel's Christian Democratic Union is expected to win about 30% of the votes in the election.
