[Chatbot Causes Trouble, Musk's xAI Company Apologizes] On the 12th local time, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI apologized for its chatbot Grok's comments praising Hitler and others, explaining that the incident was caused by the erroneous use of a piece of deprecated code after a system update, which has now been removed. xAI stated on its official social media account: "We deeply apologize for the terrible behavior of (Grok) experienced by many." According to The New York Times, on July 8, Grok generated a series of "anti-Semitic" remarks referencing content posted by users on Musk's social media platform X, including praising Nazi Germany leader Hitler; claiming that people with Jewish surnames are more likely to spread hate speech online; and responding to hate speech against white people with remarks related to the Nazi mass extermination of Jews during World War II as "effective," among others.
