Recently, the latest news regarding the policies of the Federal Reserve (Fed) has triggered fluctuations in the crypto assets market. The White House stated that, although technically feasible, it will not dismiss Fed Chairman Powell due to the high costs. Instead, they hope Powell can implement interest rate cuts as soon as possible and expressed indifference to the government debt issues brought about by tax cuts.
However, market expectations for interest rate cuts have cooled. Currently, the possibility of a rate cut in July is almost zero, while the probability for September is only around 58%. The reason for this shift in expectations is that the U.S. inflation rate is still above the Fed's target level, coupled with tariff policies that may further drive up prices. Therefore, the Fed may need to wait for more clear economic data, possibly taking action only after September or even October.
This news caused the crypto assets market to decline in the short term. However, it is worth noting that the market structure is changing. In recent months, many small crypto assets have outperformed Bitcoin, indicating that large institutional investors' funds are beginning to pay attention to these emerging projects.
Venture capital firm DWF Labs believes that the 'altcoin season' has only just begun. They pointed out that the current market is primarily dominated by large institutions. The new regulations on stablecoins in the U.S. (GENIUS Act) have increased the confidence of institutional investors, making them more willing to invest in smaller crypto assets. In addition, professional traders are making large bets in the options market that crypto asset prices will rise in the fourth quarter of this year (September-December), which is also a positive signal.
Despite the delay in interest rate cut expectations leading to a short-term decline, institutional investors seem to be quietly positioning themselves for the upcoming 'altcoin season.' For individual investors, the current market adjustment may present an opportunity to focus on potential small coins and consider buying in batches. However, investors should proceed with caution and fully assess the risks, as the crypto assets market still exhibits high levels of fluctuation and uncertainty.
