Base APP Upgrade: Building a Super Entry Point for the Web3 World

Recently, Base held the "A New Day One" launch event, announcing a significant upgrade to its ecosystem. The core of this upgrade is the official renaming of Coinbase Wallet to Base App, marking a shift in Base's strategic focus from purely underlying infrastructure to a "super app" that integrates users, applications, and social features.

The Base App is positioned as a "universal application" aimed at breaking the current fragmentation of Web3 application functions, seamlessly integrating core functions such as social interaction, content creation, asset trading, instant messaging, and daily payments into a unified platform.

The core of the application is an open social network built on the decentralized social protocol Farcaster. Users can truly own their content and social graph, and can freely take it to any compatible application. With the support of the Zora protocol, each user's post can be minted as an on-chain asset, allowing creators to directly earn from their creations.

The Base App also integrates hundreds of mini-applications covering various categories such as games, yield mining, and prediction markets. Users can trade assets within the app, supporting the buying and selling of millions of on-chain tokens. In addition, Base now supports free and fast USDC transfers via NFC technology.

Technically, Base has officially launched the Flashblocks module on the mainnet, reducing effective block time from 2 seconds to 200 milliseconds, achieving a speed increase of 10 times, making it the fastest EVM-compatible chain currently. To empower developers, the original Coinbase Wallet SDK has also been upgraded to Base Account SDK, providing powerful tools needed to build outstanding applications.

Base's ambition goes beyond creating an application; its ultimate goal is to build an open, efficient, and borderless global on-chain economy. Recently, Base has partnered with several well-known institutions, such as JPMorgan, which will pilot dollar deposit tokens on Base, and millions of Shopify merchants can choose Base Pay as a payment method.
