Virtual Money investment eyewash: 13 billion funds evaporated, 2 million investors deceived.
The Eyewash Behind High Returns: A Comprehensive Analysis of the Collapse of a Certain Virtual Money Investment Platform
Recently, an investment and wealth management platform named "Xinkangjia" has attracted widespread attention. It is reported that the platform has attracted approximately 2 million investors, with an involved amount of up to 13 billion yuan. After the platform's funds could not be withdrawn or paid out, the company's founder claimed to be abroad.
This platform, under the guise of Virtual Money investment, attracts consumers with high returns. Its daily return rate reaches 1%, and it aggressively develops downlines by setting high rewards and establishing profit-sharing ratios based on the number of downline members. Even when the platform can no longer make payouts, users still join.
According to investors in Wuhan, the platform claims that investors can participate in overseas gold and crude oil investments, earning a daily return of 1% on their principal, but the invested funds cannot be withdrawn within a month. About four days ago, the platform's application could no longer be logged in.
After the situation of being unable to withdraw on the platform occurred, the explanation given was "The company has been identified by regulatory authorities for tax evasion, and all account funds have been frozen." The platform requires users to pay "taxes" amounting to 10% of their holding amount in order to withdraw, and the withdrawal fee is as high as 50%.
Public security agencies in multiple regions have issued risk alerts. The Public Security Bureau of Taojiang County, Hunan, pointed out that the platform fraudulently uses the name of the Dubai Gold and Commodity Exchange to attract funds, falsely claiming to be the Chinese branch of the exchange without authorization and relevant qualifications. The public security agencies believe that this behavior is suspected of fundraising fraud.
The survey shows that the platform mainly develops downlines through "direct push rewards" and "team commissions". The platform is divided into regions according to the "four major zones", promotes membership development offline, and conducts publicity through irregular gatherings and WeChat group building, determining levels and sharing ratios based on team size, with a total of 9 levels.
It is worth noting that some participants are aware of the high risks involved, yet still believe that they will not be the "last one standing." This mindset reflects a misalignment of risk in speculative behavior, building individual actions on the expectation of others' losses, while ignoring the unpredictability of the market and the absolute dominance of platform operators.
Legal experts remind that even if one is not a "core member" of the organization, active participation and reaching a certain scale may still constitute "joint crime." Even if money is made, it may still be considered illegal gains with risks.
For ordinary investors, the standard for judging whether an investment platform is reliable lies in whether the flow, purpose, regulatory body, and responsible party of the funds can be clearly identified before investing. If these four questions cannot be answered clearly, one should stay away from such platforms. In daily life, do not blindly trust so-called "early entry, early profit" in regard to "investment opportunities" with unclear compliance.
