2024 Move Developer Conference: A Key Year for Ecological Prosperity
Move Developer Conference 2024: A Year of Ecological Prosperity
The Move Developer Conference will be held in Shanghai from January 13 to 14, 2024, with the theme "A Key Year for the Move Ecosystem." This conference attracted over 500 participants, with more than 100,000 exposures across the internet.
The conference brought together numerous industry experts, including Sam Blackshear, co-founder of Mysten Labs, and Wolfgang Grieskamp, head of the Move language at Aptos Labs. They discussed topics such as the future development of the Move language, cross-chain applications, and the construction of secure platforms.
In 2023, the Aptos and Sui mainnets went live, marking the beginning of a new journey in Web3 services for one billion users. At the same time, blockchain networks such as Rooch, Initia, and MoveMent that use the Move language have emerged one after another. AI and ZK technologies have also made breakthrough advancements, driving the widespread adoption of blockchain solutions based on Move.
Sam Blackshear reviewed the three major technical improvements of the Move language in 2022-2023: object data model, programmable transaction blocks, and dynamic bytes. These upgrades significantly enhanced development efficiency. In 2023, the Sui testnet demonstrated outstanding performance, with TVL exceeding $2 billion, proving the security and scalability of Move.
In 2024, the Move language will develop in a direction that is more user-friendly and more compatible. Plans to introduce zkLogin multi-signature functionality, adopt a closed-loop token standard, and accelerate the development of advanced toolkits are underway. This will attract more Web3 developers and expand the influence of the Move ecosystem.
Luis, co-founder of MoveBit, introduced the Move security platform built on bytecode. MoveBit has developed various tools, such as mobile scanners and the Aptos mobile analyzer, to ensure the secure operation of projects. Currently, MoveBit has completed over 400 vulnerability detections, covering 80% of Sui Grant projects.
The co-founder of zkMove, nanne007, shared the development journey of halo2-verifier. The project aims to introduce ZKP technology into the Move ecosystem, providing developers with more possibilities. In the future, halo2 plans to optimize user experience and expand to other Move blockchains such as Sui and Movement.
The founder of omniBTC, Guanghua, discussed how to introduce external assets on Sui. He pointed out that solving the TVL issue on the Sui chain is crucial. The Sui official has attracted a large number of cross-chain assets through subsidies, while BEVM proposed an innovative full-chain messaging protocol solution.
The founder of Mole, Andrew, introduced the asset management platform Mole based on Move. This platform provides users with stable returns through mechanisms such as savings pools and algorithmic hedging, while managing the liquidity of on-chain assets.
Mysten Labs cryptography engineer Joy Wang provided a detailed explanation of the principles and applications of zkLogin. zkLogin protects user privacy through zero-knowledge proofs, achieving a seamless connection between Web2 and Web3 wallet verification.
Henry Liu, the founder of Obelisk Labs, shared the advantages of Move in the development of full-chain games. The Obelisk Engine, as a Move application framework, can significantly reduce game development costs and support large-scale complex game types.
Alcove senior engineer Eric introduced the exploration of Aptos Move Object. Alcove is building an open developer community to promote the adoption of Web3. They are actively developing features such as dynamic scaling and extended cycles, and exploring new forms of assets.
Troy, co-founder of MoveFlow, showcased the programmable flow payment protocol based on Move. MoveFlow supports predefined trading rules based on time and events, enabling one-to-many asset transfers, subscription payments, and more. In 2024, MoveFlow plans to deploy a complete product matrix on Aptos and EVM chains.
The conference showcased the vigorous development of the Move ecosystem, covering various fields such as security, asset management, gaming, and payments. With continuous technological innovation, Move is expected to achieve greater breakthroughs and applications in 2024.
