On-chain Realism Extremism: Building a More Authentic Virtual World

In our understanding, reality is often regarded as a manifestation of inherent truths, representing an unquestionable order. This order grants us inner peace, making us believe that even though life is finite, reality will exist eternally. In contrast, the virtual is often considered inherently false, with inconsistent internal logic that is difficult to sustain over time.

However, the boundary between reality and the virtual is not always clear. We often judge the things around us based on empiricism: the familiar and comfortable are seen as real, while the strange and distant are considered false. This standard of judgment varies from person to person. From a logical perspective, how do we determine that the world we are in is not a carefully designed dream? How can we verify that what we believe to be real is not just an illusion generated by the brain receiving electrical signals? We are so immersed in familiar environments that we often forget to question deeply.

The reality that attracts attention is the reality that is meaningful to them, and this meaningful reality leads to a transformation in self-awareness. When you immerse yourself in a favorite game, guiding your character through a vibrant adventure world, you enter a state of flow where time seems to stand still. In this state, the character in the game becomes another important version of yourself, and the game world becomes a reality of significant meaning to you. Your body at this moment merely serves as a vessel for sustaining mental activity, detached from that virtual reality, only needing to continue to exist.

The transfer of subjective consciousness allows us to construct new realities. We advocate for "on-chain reality maximalism" because we believe that the inherent decentralization and immutability of blockchain technology provide a solid foundation for building these new realities. The large-scale decentralized applications we are developing serve as vast containers that can support the growing number of participants. The world defined by smart contracts is not just a carefully curated theme park for temporary entertainment; it can transcend mere entertainment to create an environment where people must take responsibility for their actions and bear the consequences.

From this perspective, many people seem to not take seriously the large decentralized applications we are building as they should. They often view the on-chain world as a simple supplement to the existing world, as optional or secondary. This dismissive attitude undermines the inherent credibility of these applications, making it difficult to persuade future residents of the on-chain world to participate in constructive activities that can bring long-term, stable value.

Developing large-scale applications is a key step towards "on-chain reality". Games, as an important subset of large-scale applications, are often resisted by some people. This resistance reflects a latent anxiety that is not entirely unfounded. The "sub-reality" shaped by traditional Web2 games, while having significant appeal, is under the strong control of centralized entities, and its foundation is not reliable enough and could collapse at any time. In contrast, fully on-chain games do not have a fate destined for destruction. Based on this, we can attempt to build a reality that is more real and imaginative than the physical world we inhabit: a reality that is wilder, more romantic, and more beautiful.

Our bodies exist on Earth and need to meet basic demands for daily survival, maintaining health, social interaction, and earning money. These necessities consume a significant amount of our time and energy. We may try to give these tasks a positive meaning to comfort ourselves, but this is often just a reluctant compromise. It seems that we are making choices, yet in reality, we are merely selecting from a series of unsatisfactory options, guided by luck and intuition, unaware of the consequences.

With the advancement of technology, material resources are becoming more abundant, human lifespan is extending, and artificial intelligence is taking over more fundamental tasks. "On-chain maximalism" provides a new path to address the spiritual crisis faced by humanity. We believe that this is not just a new trend in crypto culture but an evolution of civilization itself. In this new reality, everyone can become their own master, breaking free from imposed and meaningless choices, and building a future for themselves and all of humanity.
