Spain's National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) is preparing for the entry into force of the Crypto-Asset Market Regulation (known as MiCA). To this end, it published a statement in which it reveals its plan of activities for 2024.

As stated in the February 27 publication, the CNMV will focus much of its work this year on preparing both cryptocurrency investors and companies in the sector to comply with the new regulations.
It is explained, in this sense, that the agency is preparing to exercise the new powers on cryptoassets that were assigned to it by the government, which will involve carrying out numerous actions this year. Hence, one of the main lines of work is related to the adoption of MiCA in Spain.
It should be recalled that, following instructions from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, the CNMV will be the entity in charge of issuing authorizations and supervising the operations of cryptocurrency companies registered in the country. A task that will be shared with the Bank of Spain.
