Obtained a license from Luxembourg! Standard Chartered announced: Enter the European market to "provide encryptioncoin custody services"
Standard Chartered Bank recently obtained a license in Luxembourg and will provide cryptocurrency custody services through its newly established subsidiary, continuing to expand its cryptocurrency business in Europe.
According to a statement released on Thursday, Standard Chartered Bank has established a new entity in Luxembourg to serve as a 'compliant springboard' for entering the EU market and providing cryptocurrency custody services under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.
MiCA regulations have been fully effective since December 30th of last year, establishing a clear framework for the management and trading of cryptocurrencies within the EU. Standard Chartered Bank's rapid layout demonstrates its emphasis on the European cryptocurrency market.
To accelerate the promotion of cryptocurrency business in Europe, Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Laurent Marochini as the first CEO of its subsidiary in Luxembourg. Marochini previously served as the head of innovation at Société Générale, where he has extensive experience in the field of financial technology and innovation.
Margaret Harwood-Jones, Global Head of Financing and Securities Services at Standard Chartered Bank, said:
We are very pleased to be able to expand the digital asset custody services to the EU region and to provide support and security for customers through compliant entities and innovative products that are reshaping the traditional financial landscape.
