StakenShake's COO took the stage to explain why restaurants embrace Bitcoin and Blockchain, announcing the launch of the Bitcoin Burger special.

Las Vegas, USA: The classic steak and shake chain restaurant Steak’nShake announced in May this year that it officially accepts Bitcoin payments at its global chain stores, becoming the first major American chain restaurant brand to promote Bitcoin payments. The company's COO, Dan Edwards, gave a speech at the Bitcoin Conference 2025 explaining why the restaurant began accepting Bitcoin payments. He stated that this transformation is not just to hype Bitcoin and Blockchain, but to provide customers with a win-win business application upgrade for both the customers and the brand.

SteaknShake has a long history and is bold in challenging innovations.

Founded in 1934 on Route 66 in the United States, Steak'n Shake is one of the oldest burger chains in the United States, in addition to steak burgers and classic homemade milkshakes, this year it became the first restaurant chain to launch "Beef Tallow Fries" (Beef Tallow Fries Note: Most restaurants use salad oil or seed fries to fry), which means that the brand subverts the innovative spirit of gastronomic tradition.

On May 16 of this year, Steak'n'Shake announced the official start of accepting Bitcoin Lightning Network payments in the United States and multiple chain locations around the world, including France, Monaco and Spain. Edwards said in a speech at the Bitcoin Annual Meeting that on the day Steak'n Shake accepted bitcoin payments, the platform's bitcoin transactions immediately accounted for 0.2% of the world's bitcoin transactions, which means that one out of every 500 bitcoin transactions is related to Steak'n Shake.

Edwards said bitcoin transactions are processed faster than credit cards and save about 50 percent on transaction fees, allowing brands to save money and allow restaurants to focus more on improving food and beverage quality and operations, and Steak'n Shake is preparing to phase out the seed oil used in restaurants.

Notably, Steak'n Shake is not only introducing Bitcoin payments on the consumer side but is also about to start accepting potential franchisees to pay the franchise fees with Bitcoin, further expanding the commercial application scenarios of cryptocurrency.

In addition, Steak’n Shake will continue to promote various new technologies in the future, including autonomous taxis, online kitchens, drone delivery, and AI, among others. Edwards called on aspiring engineers to join Steak’n Shake to create a new wave at the Bitcoin conference.

SteaknShake launches a limited edition Bitcoin burger meal

Edwards announced at the Bitcoin Conference that Steak'n Shake will soon launch a limited edition 'Bitcoin Burger Package', which includes a special Bitcoin steak burger, oversized fries and Bitcoin shakes, and a limited Bitcoin Hamburger set available at the Fremont Hotel and Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and future Steak'n Shake It is also planned to launch a "blockchain menu" tailored to the price of Bitcoin.

Edwards concluded that Steak'n Shake is not for marketing gimmicks to hype, but to truly meet the global and diversified payment needs of customers, which is not only a technological innovation, but also a win-win milestone for brands and customers.
