The Final Round in the Giant War Between Trump and Elon Musk: Trump Clearly Threatened!
U.S. President Donald Trump said that technology billionaire Elon Musk would face "very serious consequences" if he finances Democratic candidates against lawmakers who support the Republican Party's massive budget bill.
In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump stated, "If he does this, he will pay the price." However, he refrained from giving details about what those 'consequences' would be. Trump later reiterated his words, saying, "There will be very serious consequences."
Trump also clearly stated that he has no desire to mend his relationship with Musk: "I have no intention of fixing my relationship with him." When asked whether his relationship with the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has ended, he replied, "I assume so."
The tension between Trump and Musk, which surfaced earlier this week with mutual threats and accusations on social media platforms X and Truth Social, gained a new dimension with the President's statements. Trump argued that the Republican Party has united like never before following the tension.
Trump, stating that there are no plans for a short-term meeting with Musk, said, "I am busy with other things," and added, "I am not thinking of talking to him." He also accused Musk of disrespecting the presidential office: "This is a very bad thing. He is showing great disrespect to the presidential office."
In response to calls from some conservative figures for a federal review of Musk's business dealings and immigration record, he said: "I have no such thing on my agenda right now."
Trump also stated that he does not believe Musk's opposition to the budget bill called "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" jeopardizes the future of the law: "I am sure it will pass before July 4th in the Senate. The Republican Party has never been this united."
Elon Musk, who gave Trump major financial support in the 2024 elections, donated more than a quarter of a billion dollars to the campaign in critical states. In the first months of the Trump administration, Musk was appointed head of the "Department of Government Efficiency" and oversaw sweeping downsizing policies.
