The Taiwanese mobile game "Counterattack: Fire of War" has been banned by the Hong Kong authorities, with the official sarcastically remarking: "Thank you, Prime Minister, for the arrows."

The Taiwanese mobile game "Counterattack: Blaze of War" was targeted by the Hong Kong police's National Security Department on June 10, citing reasons of promoting "Taiwan independence," "Hong Kong independence," and "armed revolution." This marks the first time Hong Kong has used the "Hong Kong National Security Law" to address mobile game content, urging Hong Kong citizens not to download it to avoid legal issues. Following this news, there was a surge in searches on Google, and the download numbers on the Apple App Store and Google Play skyrocketed, with "Counterattack" quickly rising from obscurity to become the hottest mobile game in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

"Counter Unification War" promotes Hong Kong independence and Taiwan independence, and is blocked by the National Security Law.

The Hong Kong Police National Security Department on June 10 accused the Taiwanese mobile game "Counter-attack: Fire of War" of promoting Taiwan independence, Hong Kong independence, and advocating armed revolution, urging Hong Kong citizens not to download or make in-game purchases to avoid violating the National Security Law.

This is the first time the Hong Kong police have used the National Security Law to address mobile game content. According to the provisions of the law, the police can request internet platforms, console manufacturers, or internet service providers to restrict or take down relevant information, with violators facing up to one year in prison or a fine of HKD 100,000.

Players can choose the Revolutionary Army or the Red Army, and the 'Hong Kong Interim Government' has drawn attention from the authorities.

According to the official website of "Reverse United Front", players can choose between two factions, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Tibet, Kazakhstan, Uyghurs and other "revolutionary armies" or the "Red Army" defending the Chinese regime. Among them, the Hong Kong camp allows players to play the role of "Hong Kong's provisional government", which has aroused strong concern from the Hong Kong authorities.

This game was developed by the Taiwan Overseas Strategic Communication Working Group (ESC) and was launched back in April, but it did not attract public attention until the Hong Kong police pointed it out.

Ranked 4th in the App Store game chart, Google search skyrocketed

Despite the Hong Kong police clearly warning residents not to download it, the popularity of the game "Reverse Warfare" surged overnight. According to reports, since the Hong Kong police released a statement on June 10, "Reverse Warfare" has immediately become the number one search keyword on Google in Hong Kong.

Subsequently, netizens discovered that the download volume of "Counter Offensive" on the Apple App Store surged, even ranking 4th in the "Adventure Free Games" category. However, it can no longer be found in the Google Play Store.

However, the official Facebook of "Reverse Warfare" responded: "Players can change the country or region settings of their Apple ID, and then download it later."

A post on the fan page satirizes "Thank you, Prime Minister, for the arrows," boosting the popularity of mobile games.

In response to the Hong Kong police's suppression, "Anti-Encirclement" posted an article on the evening of June 10, referencing the story of "borrowing arrows with straw boats" from "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", stating "Thank you, Chancellor, for the arrows", to satirize that the suppression of actions has instead led to a significant increase in exposure for the game.

This article reports that the Taiwanese mobile game "Reverse Warfare: Flames of War" has been banned by the Hong Kong authorities, with officials sarcastically stating: "Thank you, Prime Minister, for the arrow," first appearing in Chain News ABMedia.
