Powell Responds to Trump's Attack: Will Focus 100% on The Federal Reserve (FED) Legal Duties

According to Mars Finance, on July 1st, at an event held by the European Central Bank in Portugal, someone asked Federal Reserve Chairman Powell, "Do President Trump's frequent personal attacks make your job more difficult?" In response, Powell said, "I focus solely on doing my job well. It is important to use our tools to achieve the goals that Congress has given us: maximum employment, price stability, and financial stability. This is our 100% focus." The audience, including European Central Bank President Lagarde and other attendees, responded with applause. When later asked whether he would stay on at the Federal Reserve after his term ends next May, Powell said he had no comment on that today.
