Ethereum Foundation: Establishes a $1.25 million legal aid fund to support Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm.

Odaily News The Ethereum Foundation has announced it will provide up to $1.25 million in funding to support the legal defense of Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm, which includes $500,000 in direct aid and up to $750,000 in community matching donations. Roman Storm is set to stand trial on July 14 in a U.S. federal court, facing charges of operating a remittance business without a license, money laundering, and violating sanctions. The Foundation emphasized that "privacy is normal, and writing code is not a crime," and this move is seen as a key stance in support of open source and Web3 privacy freedoms. Previously, Vitalik Buterin donated 50 ETH to support Storm's defense.
