Jeong Woo Park, ekonomist at Nomura Securities, wrote in a report that the Central Bank of Korea may lower its GDP growth forecast for 2024 from 2.4% to 2.2% at the policy meeting in November. Park also expects the Central Bank of Korea to revise down its GDP forecast for 2025 from the previous 2.1% to 2.0%. He stated that the downward revision is to reflect the disappointing third-quarter GDP growth, slowing export growth, and mild recovery in private consumption in the country. Nomura Securities expects the Central Bank of Korea to stand pat in November after the rate cut in October; the bank is expected to cut rates by 25 basis points each in January, February, and May next year.
